Daintyfit machinist settles tinnitus and hearing loss case for £11,000.00

Philomena’s Daintyfit claim settles for £11,000.00.  Philomena worked in Daintyfit in Irvinestown for approximately 9 years between 1986-1997.

She was employed as a machinist in the underwear department and worked on the factory floor in close proximity to many other employees all using noisy machinery.   She advised that hearing protection was sometimes available in the later years but it was inadequate and management did not enforce the wearing of the ear buds in any event.

Philomena attended Altnagelvin Hospital where she was diagnosed with hearing loss and tinnitus.  She described her tinnitus as a buzzing noise which affected her daily activities.  Philomena was fitted with two hearing aids at Altnagelvin Hospital.

She had heard about MMC Legal’s specialist knowledge in hearing loss claims and contacted our office for a no obligation chat.  MMC Legal retrieved her Altnagelvin hearing test results and confirmed that she would potentially be able to obtain hearing loss compensation.  She attended for a hearing test which confirmed the presence of noise damage and shortly after, an offer to settle her case was negotiated at £11,000.00. Philomena was thrilled to receive her settlement cheque in the post a short time later.
